Rupert Murdoch's News Corp is one step closer in its long regulatory fight to take control of British Sky Broadcasting, with UK Culture Secretary telling the House of Commons today that he is ready to approve the merger. He did say he would give opponents of the tie-up a week to raise final objections over the deal, which critics have said threatens diversity in the news marketplace (News Corp arm News International publishes The Sun, The Times, The Sunday Times and the News of the World newspapers in the UK). Hunt said that he has received concessions from News Corp recently that address those fears. (Meanwhile, opponents have questioned Murdoch's influence over Hunt, the Financial Times said.)�Already, the National Union of Journalists has organized a demonstration for today with other guilds and unions outside the�Department of�Culture, Media and Sport in London.�"Rupert Murdoch's profit-at-all costs philosophy forces too many journalists to cut corners, compromise professional standards and set aside ethical conduct for fear of failing to deliver the sales demanded by executives," said NUJ secretary Jeremy Dear. "This model of journalism is not in the public interest -- it serves only the accountants."

Rock Ross Sued Over Dog Mauling

Doggone it, Rick Ross is in trouble with the law.

A lawsuit has been filed against the rapper following the death of a three-year old Yorkshire Terrier named Banks. According to documents obtained by TMZ, the canine suffered "3 large bite wounds on his back," along with a "very large bite wound" around his neck, all at the paws of Ross' pitbulls, which escaped from his home in April.

The owner of Banks was forced to euthanize the pet as a result of the attack.

Investigators cited Ross for the incident, but the lack of an apology from the artist has irked the owner to the point where she's demanding he pay over $15,000 in damages and court costs.

Let's hope the court also makes him put a shirt on. Yeeesh!

Under the two-year pact, Up In the Air co-writer Turner will write one script himself and he and Klein will shepherd projects with other writers. Turner and Klein will executive produce all projects developed under the deal, which sprung from the relationship they developed with ABC and ABC Studios this past development season when the two executive produced a Vice President drama project titled Number Two, which Turner co-wrote with Shaun Cassidy. Turner and Klein are expected to bring a feature mentality to their development and shepherd big-event shows with feature writers. In addition to Number Two, Turner and Klein have sold together as producers Broken to FX, which Turner wrote; drama Michael Chance to NBC, written by Julie Golden; and half-hour comedy The True Adventures of a Terrible Dater, written by Susan Brightbill. The beloved American Idol finalist has reportedly signed with Interscope Records, according to producer Antonina Armato. He told ABC News Radio this week:

Adam Levine on Perceived Adam Lambert Diss: No Apology Necessary!

Adam Levine may have angered countless Adam Lambert fans on Tuesday night, but the Maroon 5 frontman isn't sorry.

That's because he says he was simply being honest in his assessment of Nakia, a contestant on The Voice who covered Lambert's "Whataya Want From Me." Praising the aspiring singer, Levine said:

“I’m pretty sure, although I’ve never heard that song before, that you probably sang it better than the person that sang it originally."

It was definitely an odd phrasing - if you're unfamiliar with the original artist, why go out of your way to say Nakia sang it better than this unknown individual? - but Levine said it was the truth, not a passive aggressive jab.

"I had honestly never heard that song before," he Tweeted yesterday. "I thought that @nakia made me like a song that would have otherwise fallen flat. I'm NOT sorry.. No disrespect intended for @adamlambert... I honesty had never heard the song before. I'm not one to take cheap shots like that."

Some ten plus years ago, Eminem emerged on the scene with his independently released Slim Shady EP, which would later mature into a full-length Interscope/Aftermath extended LP version. Around the same time, Em introduced the world to a promising, fellow Detroit emcee named Royce Da 5'9. Together, they recorded three tracks, two which were released on a Game Records 12" single ("Scary Movies" b/w "Nuttin' To Do"), the third, simply titled "Bad Meets Evil", appearing on the Slim Shady LP. This early in his career, Em found an emcee strong enough to go toe-to-toe with, making him a shoe-in for the inevitable launch of Shady Records. But things went in a strange direction, as the two went their separate ways. To make a long story short, the two had a falling out, making the precedent of a Bad Meets Evil album seem like it would never be. With all of that in the past, the signing of Royce's Slaughterhouse crew to Shady Records revisited the possibility of a Bad Meets Evil album; but instead of making the fans wait until after Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf LP's dropped, Em and Royce got right down to business.
