Sister Wives' Kody Brown wants to take the State of Utah to court, according to reports, challenging the legitimacy of bigamy laws that ban his lifestyle.
Brown and his four-wife "plural" family claim they're filing a suit against Utah, challenging the state's bigamy law. Whether he'll succeed is another story.
Their family attorney, who will file the lawsuit, posted the following on his website: "We are not demanding the recognition of polygamous marriage."
The lawyer continues, "We are only challenging the right of the state to prosecute people for private relations and demanding equal treatment with other private citizens in living their lives according to their own beliefs."
"It is a legal challenge designed to benefit not just polygamists but all citizens who wish to live their lives according to their own values - even if those values may run counter to those of the majority in the state."
Interestingly, that legal argument by Brown is virtually identical to the one made by supporters of gay marriage, which was just legalized in New York, but remains banned in most U.S. states, including Utah.
Kody, who announced earlier this year that he would consider moving to neighboring with Nevada with his brood, is expecting with wife Robyn (#4).
